NEET UG and CUET UG exams had to be postponed due to the disturbance in the Manipur state. Hence, NEET UG is currently re-scheduled between 3 June – 5 June 2023 and CUET UG will be held anyday between June 5 and 8, 2023. These dates are only for the students who could not appear for the exam due to the Law and Order situation in the state. In addition to announcing the new dates for NEET 2023 and CUET 2023, NTA has also provided an option for affected candidates to change their exam center. The details can be found on the official websites of the exams.
The undergraduate medical entrance exam NEET UG and the undergraduate entrance exam CUET UG, which were suspended in Manipur due to the law-and-order situation, have been rescheduled with new dates announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The decision was made after a careful review of the current situation in consultation with the Manipur state administration.
Due to the law-and-order situation in Manipur, candidates will have an opportunity to change their exam city and appear again in the NEET UG and CUET UG exams. This opportunity is provided to all the affected candidates, regardless of whether they had downloaded their admit cards for the exams or not.
The candidates who were about to appear for the exams in Manipur can now choose from exam centres in Aizawl (Mizoram); Kohima/Dimapur (Nagaland); Shillong (Meghalaya); Guwahati, Jorhat and Silchar (Assam); Delhi; Bengaluru (Karnataka) Kolkata (West Bengal) and Imphal (Manipur).
This decision was taken in view of the current circumstances going on in the state. To avail the option to change the exam center, candidates from Manipur must use the Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) facility. This facility will be available from 28 May 2023 (07:00 A.M.) to 30 May 2023 (07:00 P.M.). Each candidate will receive a message regarding this on their registered mobile number.
The state of Manipur has been severely affected by violence arising from the proposed grant of scheduled tribe status to the Metei community as the majority in the state. This move was opposed by the Naga and Kuki tribals, leading to clashes and agitation in the Manipur region.
The NTA, in coordination with the state government and administration, has taken sufficient measures for smooth conduction of the exam. The rescheduling of NEET-UG and CUET-UG exam gives hope to thousands of aspirants making sure that all eligible candidates in Manipur can still chase their dreams and academic aspirations in spite of the disturbances.
