RRB (Railway Recruitment Board) recently released their notification for the post of Group D staffs (Gateman, Hospital nurse, Technicians, Check-post keeper etc). The aspirants have waited long for the recruitment notice for the year 2018. Along with the notification RRB released the syllabus for the exam too. An aspirant must go through the syllabus carefully to understand the topics to study and focus on. Railway Group D Exam Pattern
There will be three stages for the exam in 2018:
- Computer Based Test (CBT)
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
- Document verification
Computer Based Test (CBT)
Negative marking will be there. For each incorrect answer 1/3 of the marks will be deducted. All MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) consisting various segments with fixed time duration will be asked in the exam.

RRB Group D Syllabus 2018 for Computer Based Test (CBT)
The Computer Based Test will comprise of four subjects.

Math Syllabus
Algebra-
Normally 5-6 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborated to sub topics- Identities, Linear Equation in 1 Variable, Linear Equation in 2 Variable, Quadratic Equation, Polynomials, Unit digit, Linear inequalities and Function.
Simplification-
Normally 7-10 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborated to sub topics- BODMAS, Approx Value, Square Root, Percentage, Fractions, Reciprocals of Numbers, Decimals and Surds and Indices.
Data Interpretation-
Normally 6-8 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborated to sub topics- Tabular Graph, Pie Chart, Line Graph, and Bar Graph.
Percentages-
Normally 2-3 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborate to sub topics- Calculation-oriented basic percentage.
Number System-
Normally 2-3 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborate to sub topics- LCM and HCF, Divisibility and Remainder, Integers and Rational and Irrational numbers.
Averages-
Normally 1-2 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborate to sub topics- Average Weight/Height/Age/Marks, Average Money Expenditure, and Average Temperature etc.
Ratio and Proportion-
Normally 1-2 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborate to sub topics- Simple Ratios, Compound Ratios, Direct or Indirect Proportion, Component or Dividend, Fourth Proportional, Third Proportional, Age, Mean Proportional.
Mixture Problems-
Normally 1-2 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborate to sub topics- Problems on making a mixture of two or more entities/mixtures.
Menstruation-
Normally 2-4 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborate to sub topics- Areas & volume of Square, Rectangle, Circle or Semi Circle, Triangle, Rhombus, Trapezium, Parallelogram, Cone, Cylinder, Cube, Cuboids, Sphere, Right Prism, Tetrahedron, Pyramid.
Time and Work-
Normally 2-4 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborate to sub topics-Work Efficiency, Work and Wages, Pipes and Cistern.
Speed Time and Distance-
Normally 2-3 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborate to sub topics-Partial Speed, Relative Speed, Average Speed, Boat and River, Problem on Trains.
Interest-
Normally 2-4 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborate to sub topics- Simple Interest, Compound Interest, Combined problems on SI & CI.
Profit and Loss-
Normally 2-3 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborate to sub topics- Dishonest Dealings, Successive Selling, Partnership, Discount and Marked Price and Mixture Problems.
Number Series-
Normally 2-6 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborate to sub topics- Problems on Completing the Series, Finding the Missing Term, Finding the Wrong Term.
Geometry-
Normally 1-2 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborate to sub topics- Basic problems on Triangles, Congruence & Similarity, Theorems on Segments, Tangents & Chords. Basic questions on different types of Quadrilaterals, Co-ordinate Geometry
Trigonometry-
Normally 0-1 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborate to sub topics- Identities, Functions, Heights and Distances, Max and Min value, Circular Measure of Angles.
Probability
Normally 2-3 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborate to sub topics- basic problems on probability.
General Intelligence & Reasoning Syllabus
Analogy-
Normally 2-3 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborate to sub topics- Analogy can be Letter based and Letter and Number based, Meaning Based, GK based, Image Based and based on members of a group.
Series-
Normally 3-4 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborate to sub topics- Alphabetic Series, Number Series, Mixed Series, and General Knowledge Series.
Coding and Decoding-
Normally 2-3 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborate to sub topics- Coding and decoding by letter shifting, Coding and decoding in fictitious language, Coding letter of a word, Operation based on place value, Coding by analogy.
Puzzles-
Normally 4-5 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborate to sub topics- Quant based puzzle, Logical puzzle (Equation insert, BODMAS rule, Inequality, Coded logic), Seating Arrangement (Circular Arrangement, Linear Arrangement), Scheduling, Double Line up, Clock Calendar.
Direction and Distance-
Normally 0-1 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborate to sub topics- Route & network based problems.
Blood Relation-
Normally 3-5 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborate to sub topics- General blood relation problems, Family tree problems, Coded blood relation problems.
Alphabet and Word Test-
Normally 2-3 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborate to sub topics- Sequence (Logical order, Dictionary order, Reverse dictionary order), New word by adding prefix, New word by adding Suffix, Jumble words (Find odd one, Unjumble words), Matrix, Word formation (New word formed, Word cannot be formed)
Venn Diagram-
Normally 2-3 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborate to sub topics- Logical Venn Diagram, Venn diagram problem, Syllogism.
Missing Number-
Normally 2-3 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborate to sub topics- Matrix & diagram related problems.
Non-Verbal Reasoning-
Normally 1-2 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborate to sub topics- Assemble Image, Mirror Image, Hidden Image, Completion of Incomplete Pattern, Cubes and Dice (Construction of Boxes, Problems on Dice), Paper Folding and Cutting, Missing Term, Counting Figures.
Classification-
Normally 5-6 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborate to sub topics- Letter based, Letter and number based, Meaning based, General knowledge-based, Image Based, Number based.
Verbal Reasoning-
Normally 1-2 average questions are asked in previous years. It can further elaborate to sub topics- Statements and Conclusions, Statements and Inferences, Statements and Assumptions, Assertion and Reason, Course of Action, Statements and Arguments.
General Science Syllabus
Question weight-age is 22-26 marks. Standard question of 11-12 level and 10th level physics, chemistry, life science, biology will be asked.
General Awareness Syllabus
For general awareness part there is no fixed syllabus. Anything which is happening around can be asked in the exam. We will suggest to go through any monthly magazine for current affairs. You can also read any daily newspapers also. Questions can also be asked from history, polity, environment, geography, economics etc.
