Jadavpur University MA Admission 2021: Candidates who have completed their BA/ BSC can apply for the Masters of Arts & Evening course ( M.A. Day and Evening)  for the academic year 2021-23.

Any aspirant is already appeared or is due to appear in the B.A/B.Sc Final Year/Semester Examination as per previous data the tentative date within May 2021, can also apply, provided he/she fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria in Honours/ Major papers in the past two years /semesters ( PART I/PART II examinations or semesters up to the Final semester) together.

For such candidates, the latest available marks Honours/ Major papers will be taken into consideration while preparing the merit list.

If provisionally selected for admission the candidate has to a certificate in the prescribed format (click here) certifying his/her B.A/ B.Sc Final Examination is completed on and before as per previous data the tentative date May 2021, at the time of admission.

Eligibility Criteria

Masters of Arts (Day) Courses

Bengal 3 –Year  B.A Honours/ major degree * in the subject or in Comparative Literature from a recognized University with at least 55% marks ( 49.5% for PD/ OBC – A/ OBC –B Category, 45% for sports category and 41.25% for SC/ ST category) in Honours papers.

In case Honours/ Major  is not specified/ mentioned in the mark sheet for the BA Degree of an applicant, then he/she won’t be eligible

Comparative Literature Category I

A minimum three–year Bachelors degree * with Honours/ major in n Comparative Literature with at least 40% marks, or, a three-year Bachelors degree* with Honours/Major in any literature subject with at least 50% marks (45% for PD/Sports/ OBC-A/OBC-B category and 40% for SC/ST category) in Honours/Major papers. (In case Honours/Major is NOT specified/ mentioned in the mark-sheet for the BA Degree of an applicant, then he/she will NOT be eligible.)

Category II

A Bachelors degree* with a minimum of three years of formal instruction with Honours/Major/Specialization in any nonliterature subject in Arts/Science/Commerce stream with at least 50% marks (45% for PD/OBCA/OBC-B/Sports category, 40% for SC/ST category) in Honours/Major/Specialization papers or a degree in Engineering/Technology/Medical Science or any other recognised Bachelors degree*, with a minimum of three years of formal instruction.

Economics 3-Year B.A./B.Sc Honours degree* or Major in Economics from a recognized University with at least 60% marks (54% for PD/OBC-A/OBC-B category, 50% for Sports category, and 45% for SC/ST category) in Honours papers and at least two papers/courses in Mathematics or Mathematical Economics. (In case Honours/Major is NOT specified/ mentioned in the mark-sheet for the BA Degree of an applicant, then his/her BA Degree will be considered to be equivalent to Major in Economics if he/she had studied course/ papers in Economics for at least 50% of total marks for the BA degree.)
Education Category-I

3-Year B.A. Honors/Major degree* in Education from a recognized University with at least 50% marks (45% for PD/Sports/OBC-A/OBC-B category and 40% for SC/ST category) in the Honours papers. (In case Honours/Major is NOT specified/ mentioned in the mark-sheet for the BA Degree of an applicant, then he/she will NOT be eligible.)

Category-II

3-Year Honours/Major degree in any subject and a B.Ed degree with at least 50% marks (45% for PD/Sports/OBC-A/OBC-B category and 40% for SC/ST category) in both degrees from any recognized University. (Among the 6 seats available for the category, 4 seats for Jadavpur University students and 2 seats for other University students. If all the seats are not filled up under Category-II then the remaining seats will be offered to candidates under category-I).

English A Bachelors degree* with a minimum of three years of formal instruction with Honours/Major/Specialization in any subject in Arts/Science/Commerce stream with at least 50% marks (45% for PD/OBC-A/OBCB/Sports category, 40% for SC/ST category) in Honours/Major/Specialization papers or a degree in Engineering/Technology/Medical Science or any other recognised Bachelors degree*, with a minimum of three years of formal instruction and with at least 50% marks (45% for PD/OBCA/OBC-B/Sports category, 40% for SC/ST category).
Film Studies 3-Year Honours degree or Major in Film Studies or any subject in Arts/Commerce/Science stream or degree in Engineering/Technology/Medical Science or such other recognized Bachelor degree.
History 3-Year B.A. Honours/Major degree* in the History from a recognized University with at least 55% marks (49.5% for PD/OBC-A/OBC-B category, 45% for Sports category and 41.25% for SC/ST category) in Honours papers. In case Honours/Major is NOT specified/ mentioned in the mark-sheet for the BA Degree of an applicant, then he/she will NOT be eligible
Linguistics 3-Year Honours degree* or Major in any literature or Non literature subject in Arts/Commerce/Science stream with at least 45% marks (40% for PD/Sports/OBC-A/OBC-B/SC/ST category) in Honours papers or degree in Engineering/Technology/Medical Science or any other recognised Bachelor degree. (In case Honours/Major is NOT specified/ mentioned in the mark-sheet for the BA Degree of an applicant, then he/she will NOT be eligible.)
Philosophy 3-Year B.A. Honours/Major degree* in Philosophy from a recognized University with at least 50% marks (45% for PD/Sports/OBC-A/OBC-B category and 40% for SC/ST category) in Honours papers. (In case Honours/Major is NOT specified/ mentioned in the mark-sheet for the BA Degree of an applicant, then his/her BA Degree will be considered to be equivalent to Honours in Philosophy if he/she had studied a BA degree course with at least 800 marks in aggregate, of which at least 50% marks in Philosophy.)
Political Science with International Relations 3-Year B.A. Honours degree* or Major in Political Science from a recognized University with at least 55% marks (49.5% for PD/OBC-A/OBC-B category, 41.25% for SC/ST category, and 45% for Sports category) in Honours papers. (In case Honours/Major is NOT specified/ mentioned in the mark-sheet for the BA Degree of an applicant, then he/she will NOT be eligible.)
Sanskrit: 3-Year B.A. Honors/Major degree* in Sanskrit or Shastri from a recognized University with at least 55% marks (49.5% for PD/OBC-A/OBC-B category, 45% for Sports category, and 41.25% for SC/ST category). (In case Honours/Major/Shastri is NOT specified/ mentioned in the mark-sheet for the BA Degree of an applicant, then he/she will NOT be eligible.)
Sociology 3-Year B.A. Honors degree* or Major in Sociology from a recognized University with at least 50% marks (45% for PD/Sports/OBC-A/OBC-B category and 40% for SC/ST category) in Honours papers. (In case Honours/Major is NOT specified/ mentioned in the mark-sheet for the BA Degree of an applicant, then he/she will NOT be eligible.)

 

Master of Arts (Evening) Courses

Bengal 3-Year B.A. Honours/Major degree* in the subject or in Comparative Literature from a recognized University with at least 55% marks (49.5% for PD/OBC-A/OBC-B category, 45% for Sports category and 41.25% for SC/ST category) in Honours papers. (In case Honours/Major is NOT specified/ mentioned in the mark-sheet for the BA Degree of an applicant, then he/she will NOT be eligible.)
Sanskrit 3-Year B.A. Honours/Major degree* in Sanskrit or Shastri from a recognized University with at least 50% marks (45% for PD/Sports/OBC-A/OBC-B category and 40% for SC/ST category). (In case Honours/Major/Shastri is NOT specified/ mentioned in the mark-sheet for the BA Degree of an applicant, then he/she will NOT be eligible.)
History 3-Year B.A. Honors/Major degree* in History from a recognized University with at least 55% marks (49.5% for PD/OBC-A/OBCB category, 45% for Sports category, and 41.25% for SC/ST category) in Honours/Major papers. In case Honours/Major is NOT specified/ mentioned in the mark sheet for the BA Degree of an applicant, then he/she will NOT be eligible.

 

*At the time of application, a student must have completed results up to and including 5th semester (or semester up to the Final semester) or Part I and Part II of Honours course in the relevant subject.

Jadavpur University MA Admission 2021 Admit Card

To print the admit the card one has to upload the fees deposit details on this website. Click the Login option of this website, and log into the account using your Application No/ Login ID at any time. The Acknowledgement and Admit Card page uploads the fees deposit details by clicking Insert Fees Details.

On submission of fees deposit details, the Admit card (where applicable) will be generated.

Selection Procedure

For any applicant,  any increase in marks due to post-publication review/scrutiny after the closing dates of the application as per the tentative date  (01/06/2021) for admissions to M.A (Day & Evening) Courses for the academic session 2021-2023, shall NOT be entertained, and his/her merit position shall NOT be changed.

For any candidate selected provisionally for admission, if it is found at the time of admissions that the marks he/she had stated at the time of application are less than what he/she has actually obtained (as in his/her mark-sheets), then his/her merit position shall be revised accordingly and he/she may be denied admission.

Selection Procedure for Jadavpur University M.A. admission 2021 (Day) Courses

For Category, I (those with Honours in any literature subject including Comparative Literature):- In this category selection will be made on the basis of marks scored in the Admission Test. There will be one paper for Category-I candidates.

For Category-II (those with Honours in non-literature subjects in Arts/Science/Commerce or with a degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Medical or any other recognized Bachelor degree):-  On this category Selection will be made based on marks secured in the Admission Test.

Category-II students will have to appear for two papers in general literature in the Admission Test.

 

For Linguistics, Economics, Political Science with International Relations, History, English

Selection will be made solely based on Admission Test in the subject concerned.

 

For Philosophy and Sanskrit

Selection will be made on the basis of equal weight on the marks secured in the Honours papers and an Admission Test in the subject.

For Film Studies

Category-I: Candidates  with a 3-Year Honours degree or Major in Film Studies carrying at least 50% marks in honors/major papers will be admitted directly

Category-II: All the eligible candidates other than Category I will be selected based on an Admission Test.

or Bengali, History,, and Sociology

Selection will be made based on marks obtained in the Honours/Major papers. However, those candidates who have passed the correspondence courses/distance education courses, etc. of any recognized university will have to sit for a qualifying test.

For Education

Category-I: Higher Secondary or equivalent:-% of marks x 0.5 B.A (Hons.) in Education:-% of marks x 0.5

Category-II:  Higher Secondary or equivalent:-  % of marks x 0.5 B.Ed. :-% of marks x 0.5

 

Note: **Candidates who have passed B.A.(Hons)/ B.Ed or its equivalent examination through a correspondence course or distance mode have to sit for a Preliminary Qualifying Test (PQT) to be held on as per tentative date  11/6/19 at 11:30 for Bengali, Education & Sociology.

Selection Procedure for Jadavpur University M.A. admission 2021 (Evening) Courses

For Bengali

Selection will be made based on marks obtained in the Honours/Major papers. However, the applicants who have passed the correspondence courses/ distance education courses, etc. from any recognized university will have to sit for a qualifying test.

For Sanskrit

Selection will be made on the basis of equal weight on the marks secured in Honours papers and an Admission Test in the subject.

For History

Selection will be made solely based on the Admission Test in the subject concerned.

Note: **Candidates who have passed B.A.(Hons)/ B.Ed or its equivalent examination through a correspondence course or distance mode have to sit for a Preliminary Qualifying Test (PQT) to be held on as per tentative date 11/6/18 at 11:30.
