AMEI 2021: Associate Member of the Institute of Engineers, AMIE, is a graduation level of engineering examination. It is recognized by the center, all states, AICTE, UPSC, etc. It is a distance learning mode of education.
AMIE Summer 2021 Exam – The last date to apply for AMIE Summer 2021 exam has been extended to June 30, 2021. The application form is accessible at ieindia.org and via the direct link below. As classroom attendance is not needed even salaried persons holding diploma certificates in Polytechnique can also pursue this course even from abroad.

AMIE Eligibility

- The minimum age has to be 17 years at the time of the exam.
- The person has to pass a 3-year Polytechnic Diploma or its equivalent in any branch of Engineering.
- Any candidate passing +2 with minimum 45% marks and with physics, chemistry, and mathematics as main subjects.

It does not mean that a student of Agriculture has to study that same subject in AMIE. He can choose any subject of his choice. This is an added advantage here.
AMIE Syllabus
The syllabus is the same as that of B.Tech or B.E. The study material can be downloaded from its website free of cost. There are two sections A and B. At first the Section A has to be passed.
The number of subjects in section A depends on the qualification of the student. These subjects are the fundamentals of Engineering. In Section B the student has to appear in 9 subjects, based on the special branch of the engineering he/she is pursuing.
A diploma holder has to study only 13 papers while a +2 candidate has to study 19 papers. Diploma holders have to study the following 4 papers-
- Fundamentals Of Design And Manufacturing
- Material Science And Engineering
- Computing And Informatics
- Society And Environment
Out of the 9 subjects in Section B 6 are compulsory and 3 are optional. Project work and Laboratory experiments are included to give first-hand practical knowledge to the students.
Nearest technical institutions or engineering colleges will be contacted by the Institution of Engineering for every student for the successful completion of the laboratory experiments.
AMIE Duration
A maximum of six years is allowed in each section. Hence maximum duration is twelve years. However, a serious and sincere student can take much less time.
The minimum time limit is also given. A Diploma holder must take a minimum of 2 years while a 12 passed candidate must take a minimum of 3 years and not less than that in each case.
AMIE Selection Procedure
Admission form can be downloaded. It has to be duly filled in after taking out the printout. Attested copies of all relevant certificates and an age proof have to be sent by post or through courier to the institution along with the admission form.
An entrance exam has to be given. Depending on the performance the names will be shortlisted. Now the college will be allotted after counseling.
Time Of Registration
Registration is only in the online mode. Registration 2021 will be available only from the last week of February to the last week of April, for 2 months. AMIE Membership fee is Rs 8280/-.
Application Form For Examination
The online application form has to be filled up carefully. Name, age, phone number, email address have to be filled with utmost care. A passport size photograph and signature also have to be uploaded. There are two ways of paying fees.
It can either be paid online using debit or credit card or pay offline through a Demand Draft in favor of “ The Institute of Engineers (India)”.There are almost 70 centers across the country spread over all the states and union territories.
The examination is really hassle-free as even the admit card can be downloaded one week prior to the exam and a printout has to be taken. It is compulsory to carry this admit card to the exam center at the time of the examination along with the membership card. Previous year question papers are available online.

How To Apply For AMIE
The registration for Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers is a four-stage process. We have discussed them all.
- Registration
All applicants have to register online on official website. In the process, candidates need to fill the form with personal such as name, age, phone number, email, specialization, etc. Once the details are duly filled then click on the submit button. A successful registration message will appear.
- Uploading Documents
In this process, candidates have to upload their photo, signature and academic documents like mark sheet, provisional certificate, etc.
- Submitting an online application form
After successfully uploading documents, now candidate has to click on the submit button given below of the AMIE form.
- Payment Application Fee
This is the final stage. Here candidates have to pay the fee online through Debit card/Credit card and Net Banking. The application fee is non-refundable.
AMIE Exam
The Exam fee is Rs.3000/-. This fee is fixed. A maximum of four subjects can be attempted at one go. It will be in offline mode. Hence while filling the application form online the exam center has to be selected carefully.
Results can be checked from the official website. The duration of the written exam is 3 hours and each section contains 50 questions. There are no viva, internal assessment, and laboratory exams. Results come out 10 weeks after the conduction of the exam.
AMIE Result 2021
AMIE Result 2021 will be announced in the month of July 2021. The result has been declared on the official website only. Students can check their result by using the Roll Number.
